How Hypnosis Can Unlock Your Mind's Ability For Better Memory and Faster Recall

Do you wonder why you never forget how to ride a bike?

Your memories of how to ride a bicycle are part of your remembering system called implicit memory, or as some call it, "muscle memory". You may not have ridden a bike in years, but the moment you get on one, you are off and riding without even having to think about it. Your mind remembers in different ways. Your five senses have a prominent role in your recall memory.

Take for example a first meeting with someone. You visually see the color of the person's eyes, the length and color of their hair; you hear the sound of their voice and smell the scent of cologne. All that information is processed in a central area of the brain.

Have you ever been somewhere and a specific smell will trigger a memory?

That's because you associate that smell with a specific occurrence. Or have you smelled a certain cologne or heard a song and it brings back a memory of a special person?

Your memories are made in an area of the brain called the hippocampus, a sea-horse-shaped area in the temporal lobe.

Even though at a later time you have trouble remembering something, they are there somewhere in the brain. Often sounds, feelings, or smells will bring back a memory of something you haven't thought of in years.

Your brain is more sophisticated that a computer! At least for now!

The brain does something that a computer can not do. It distributes memories over many neurons, unlike computers that store things in certain specific locations on the hard drive. If you loose your hard drive, or a portion of it, you lose everything stored on it. But if you lose a single neuron, you still have access to the memory!

And better than that, our brains have a much higher storage capacity than a computer - at least a thousand times better!

Do you find your memory isn't what it used to be?

Just because you can't remember an event or a name doesn't mean you are losing your memory. And you may be able to recall long lost memories through hypnosis.

When you are under hypnosis, your mental guard is down, your conscious filtering threshold is lowered and it is easier for you to bring back long forgotten memories while being hypnotized.

Age regression hypnosis is one way where memories from long ago or from childhood can be brought back to memory. This is particularly effective if you are trying to get over a phobia and have no idea when or how it started. Through hypnosis you can go back to when the phobia started and you will then be able to create a new experience through hypnosis to help you get rid of the phobia.

You can also use hypnosis to simply create suggestions to tell your subconscious mind to remember certain important things you don't want to forget.

For example, you may be studying or learning something new and you can create a suggestion that your mind will absorb all the new material you learn and will process it in a way that you will have instant recall when you need to remember it.

Remember, the mind is very powerful, better than a computer, and you have the ability to program it in any way you wish for your own goal achievement.

Learn How to Hypnotize - 5 Simple Steps

Hypnosis is becoming less and less mysterious and more and more respected as the modern scientific world has recognized the many benefits of this rather effective psychological technique. Those who want to learn how to hypnotize should be happy to know that the practice doesn't require any special skills or talents, and is one that can easily be mastered with the right training, dedication, and knowledge about this fascinating subject.

What is Hypnosis?

The actual meaning of hypnosis is not one that is easily defined, as it is often described as a trance-like state, albeit one that may vary in its type of intensity from person to person. It is not, however, being asleep or unconscious, but in fact, being in a heightened state of concentration and intense focus. These truths quickly dispel the myth that the hypnotherapist is the one in complete control as it as been mistakenly believed in years past rather than the person being hypnotized.

Here are five simple ways to learn how to hypnotize someone and make use of its many positive applications:

1. First, the environment should be quiet, semi-dark and the person to be hypnotized should be in a comfortable position. Be sure you won't be interrupted and that the subject is as relaxed as possible.

2. Ask the subject to focus intently on an object somewhere across the room, the size and type of object are irrelevant just as long as it is located slightly above their normal line of sight. Begin to speak in a soothing voice, detailing how heavy their eyelids are becoming as they feel each part of the body becoming more and more relaxed.

3. Encourage deep breathing, instructing the subject to exhale slowly through the mouth, holding each breath for 10 seconds and releasing as they feeling themselves falling deeper and deeper into an intense state of relaxation.

4. Ask the person to imagine themselves on a descending escalator, or perhaps walking down a set of plush and richly carpeted stairs, counting backward from 10 to 1 with each step or level, again descending deeper into the hypnotic state.

5. Now, offer positive affirmations or whatever has been agreed upon prior to the session. Then, inform the subject that as you count backwards from five to one, they will feel themselves lifting from this state, becoming more and more alert as you reach the number one, after which point they will feel completely refreshed.

Five Ways ANYBODY Can Benefit from Hypnosis

To many people hypnosis seems exotic, mysterious, maybe even a bit mystical. Therefore it is difficult for many to connect with hypnosis, and to understand how they can personally benefit from hypnosis. Hypnosis is not mystical, and it is only mysterious when you don't know how it works--much like any other skilled profession.

Hypnosis is no more exotic or mysterious than dentistry. The only difference is we see a dentist on a regular basis throughout our entire life, but are much less likely to experience professional hypnosis, or hypnotherapy. Hypnosis is a natural state that everyone experiences on a daily basis. At a minimum, you are in hypnosis twice a day. You pass through a hypnotic state as you fall asleep, and as you wake up. You may also experience hypnosis "zoning" in front of the TV, or you may experience "highway hypnosis," when you reach your destination but don't remember the details of the drive.

Sure, stage hypnosis is funny and the comedic hypnotists work hard to keep hypnosis mysterious--it's part of the show. But if this is the only exposure you've had to hypnotism, you've only scratched the surface. Hypnotism has many more practical uses that can benefit your everyday life.

Here are five common, everyday issues that hypnosis can help you with.

  1. Insomnia. Hypnosis is incredibly effective for relieving insomnia. Most patients get relief within one session. Even people who have suffered from insomnia for years have experienced immediate relief. Hypnosis can be used to stop the symptom of insomnia and can be used as an ongoing therapy to prevent the return of insomnia.
  2. Finding Lost Objects. Have you ever lost an object and been frustrated trying to remember, consciously, where you put it? Then maybe weeks or months later you find it and remember, "oh, yeah, I put that there because..." Hypnosis can be used to access the subconscious mind, which will remember accurately where you put the object. Many people have recovered lost objects this way.
  3. End an Unwanted Habit. Want to quit smoking, biting your nails, or some other habit that you just can't seem to quit through "willpower" alone? The subconscious mind is 88% of our brain's power, so trying to quit with willpower alone means the odds are stacked against you, 12% against 88%. Your subconscious will not release the habit without intervention, and that is what hypnosis is, intervention for your subconscious mind. Convince your subconscious that you are a non-smoker, non-nail-biter, etc., and watch yourself change.
  4. Get Past a Fear or Phobia. Many people have their lives limited by a fear or a phobia. Perhaps you don't fly home to see family because of a phobia about flying. A fear is a learned reaction to a real event (e.g., a fear of dogs because you were bitten as a child). A phobia is an irrational reaction (e.g., fear of flying when you haven't had any negative experiences on a plane). Both fears and phobias are quickly resolved through hypnosis, giving you new freedom in your life.
  5. Get Relief from Chronic Pain. Pain relief, an anesthetic effect, is a natural property of hypnosis. Before the discovery of ether, hypnosis was commonly used to anesthetize patients for surgery. Even today, hypnosis is being used for dental patients and for medical patients who cannot tolerate chemical anesthesia, and these patients tend to recover more quickly as well. What does this mean in your day to day life? Chronic aches and pains that are not responding to traditional medical approaches can be relieved by using the anesthetic properties of hypnosis. Once a qualified hypnotherapist teaches you how to use hypnosis this way, you can provide pain relief for yourself at any time, anywhere, in any circumstance.

There are many more applications for hypnosis that can benefit you in your everyday life. Many have used hypnosis successfully for weight loss, to improve their memory, to relieve stage fright or performance anxiety, and much, much more. How could hypnosis benefit your life?

The Handshake Interrupt and Pull Instant Hypnotic Induction

If you are familiar with the traditional versions of the hypnotic handshake induction you will know that it works on the principle of pattern interrupts.

As shaking hands is something most of us just do automatically, naturally, it means it is a hard wired unconscious pattern. (like tying your shoes, writing your signature, brushing your teeth, things you just do without thinking.)

Now when this pattern is interrupted a state of total blankness is induced.

What happens is you take the mind down one track (shaking hands) which activates the unconscious pattern and automatic behavior. Just as they are comfortable on this automatic road, and their unconscious mind is operating the behavior without any conscious input you interrupt the pattern. Doing something unexpected which breaks the pattern throws their mind off the track, and leaves them in a state of total blankness, desperately searching for another track to jump on induces "hyper suggestibility." In other words, a total willingness to follow whatever you suggest (within reason of course!).

There are no limits to how you can interrupt the pattern or what pattern you can interrupt (do not restrict yourself to handshake inductions!). But in this particular induction we will focus on an arm pull.

Once you are shaking their hand and they are in the handshake pattern (just basically when they are in the act of shaking your hand in a natural and normal way) you give a sharp pull on their arm (the one you are shaking) with yours. Be sure to avoid seeming violent, and be gentle enough to ensure you do not cause any pain or injury (no folks, dislocating arms does not make a good induction!). This jerk on their arm breaks the pattern so dramatically they are hurled right off the track and enter a state of total and utter dumfoundment which you can quickly fill with your suggestion.

Now, when a clown offers his hand and then jerks it away when you go to shake it this leaves you in a dazed state for a second or so, but you soon snap out of it.
Which is why after you have broken the pattern you must act promptly to fill the gap, otherwise they will simply gather their thoughts and carry on as usual (in my experience often with total amnesia for the interrupt).

With such a dramatic break it tends to be more powerful is you are very direct and authoritarian with your suggestion.

"Sleep Now!" or just "Sleep" have proven to be very effective in my experience.
Now they're in a trance, but your work is not finished as you nearly always must then move quickly onto a deepener to ensure they stay in trance and reach an appropriate depth.
Once you have this you can give your hypnotic suggestions.

Be sure to practice this method and pattern interrupts in general to enhance your skill and confidence, and be sure to have a decent understanding of how to deepen the trance, how to give them suggestions once you have them "under," and how to emerge them once you are done.

A great learning tool is to simply have fun with it.
This method in particular may not work every time, if something does not turn out quite right treat it as a learning experience and leap back into the fray to do it again, and the more you practice the better you get, and the better you get the more fun you have!

Easy Hypnosis Method

Hypnosis can be done with different methods. You can hypnotize someone using traditional hypnosis method ( Using swing watch), using positive reinforcement method and using conversational hypnosis method. Using swing watch also you can hypnotize someone. Hypnotists used to use swing watches in previous century. As time goes, many method has been introduced to hypnotize a person. Positive reinforcement is the easy hypnosis method you can use to hypnotize subject.

What actually a positive reinforcement method is? In this method you as a hypnotist use positive reinforcement to take subject in to trance state. The basic steps of hypnosis remains same. You ask subject to become relaxed. You give instructions how to be relaxed, in the mean while you give positive reinforcement that helps subject in becoming relaxed and thus you take subject in to trance like state. Once subject is in trance state you take a command of subject and give the suggestions.

Follow these simple steps to do easy hypnosis method.

1) In a dim light and silent room, ask your subject to sit comfortably in a chair.

2) Tell your subject to close eyes, to take a deep breath and to be relaxed.

3) Help your subject to become relaxed. Give positive reinforcement in between. You can say something like "Concentrate on right leg. Your right leg is becoming relaxed. Now concentrate on your left leg. You left leg is becoming relaxed." Do same for all parts of body. To give positive reinforcement you can say "Good, you are doing right." or "Perfect. you are doing fine."

4) After your subject become relaxed and reached to trance state, you can take a command and give suggestions to your subject. Remember even in hypnotic state, you can not make your subject do any things which is against his or her moral.

I think this is the easiest method to hypnotize a person. Just follow few simple steps and subject will be under your control.

Hypnosis Vs Subliminal CD Albums

Hypnosis works as it gains access to your subconscious mind, it bypasses your critical thinking function to overwrite and reprogram your negative behaviour. So if your conscious efforts have been failing, then hypnosis may be able to bypass your conscious mind and reprogram the unconscious thoughts that have been holding you back.

For example if you want to lose weight, but you have tried and failed so many times previously then you may have several limiting beliefs, even if they are subconscious; beliefs like "I will never be that slim / I could never achieve a six pack like that / My metabolism is too slow, I just don't lose weight that fast". Hypnosis works by reprogramming your mind to remove these beliefs and change them for empowering ones which will help you eat healthily, exercise, and lose weight more successfully for example.

Subliminal messaging can be compared to a "light" form of hypnosis. It works on the same principals of accessing the subconscious mind to change behavior and negative thought patterns that are holding you back. However there are several differences and pros and cons of each method:

  • Hypnosis can be very powerful, just one session with a qualified professional may be all it takes to change your behaviour forever. Subliminal CDs should be played every day, at least for the first 1-2 weeks - the effects are more gradual
  • Hypnosis can be expensive, especially for a highly trained hypnotist. Subliminal CDs are inexpensive and easy to obtain.
  • Hypnosis requires that you go into a deep trance like state. Subliminal Cds can be used while relaxing, or doing everyday activities.
  • Depending upon the hypnotist and your state of mind you may need some "training" or a few sessions to go into a deeper hypnosis and get the full benefit. Subliminal CDs do not send you into a trance and you will always receive the messages to your unconscious mind.

Many people use subliminal messages as a simple alternative to hypnosis, however there is no best method to use, it depends upon your beliefs, circumstances, the nature of the change you want to make, and your personal preferences. subliminal hypnosis CDs can even be a great compliment to any hypnosis session you have - they will enforce any changes you are making, and promote the behavior you want to adopt.

How to Become Very Happy Right Now

After having read a couple of hundred self help books over the last 15 years I've come to the conclusion that being happy is a choice. Either we chose to be happy or we don't. It's that simple! We are all seeking happiness and we all have the ability to be happy in our central core. Our pure unconditioned inside self is happiness. And that happiness can be let out right now!

Why aren't we happy? We aren't happy because we are conditioned over the years to pay attention to many useless thoughts and worries from the outside world, that creates our inner troubled world. All our worries, anger, frustrations come from the world outside of our mind and heart. We are too fat. We don't have enough money. We hate our jobs. We are conditioned to worry about these things and also inflict terrible self judgement upon ourselves because we aren't measuring up to someone else's standards. And with all this negative bombardment of thoughts we might have times of joy but never true contentment. What is stopping you from taking a nice walk outside right now? Only your thoughts.

You do have a core of happiness inside of you waiting to burst out. The only thing you have to do is let it out. Let go of judging yourself, let go of guilt and tell yourself you deserve to be happy right now. Don't you deserve to be happy right now? Don't you deserve to be happy for the rest of your life?

Just let yourself be happy right now. Just try it for a minute. Tomorrow morning get up and chose to be happy. Creating that choice in the morning will start you off to a happy day. Each happy day leads to a happy life.

You can read a million books, try to lose weight, count your pennies, change jobs and continue to find the ultimate solution to happiness. Or you can recognize that you have the potential to be happy right now. It has been in your heart all this time! You are the key to your own happiness! You can be happy right now.

Forgiveness, the Recipe For Happiness

Sometimes there are quotations that come up my daily work that strike a responsive chord with me. Often, they're articles in the paper that grab my attention. Sometimes, they arrive from other random sources. This morning's stimulus was a quote from author Carlos Castaneda. He wrote, "Self-importance is our greatest enemy. Think about it - what weakens us is feeling offended by the deeds and misdeeds of our fellowmen. Our self-importance requires that we spend most of our lives offended by someone." The disease is hubris (an exaggerated sense of self-importance), the symptoms are anger, frustration, and discontent, and the cure is simple (but very profound): forgiveness.

Forgiveness isn't easy: It takes guts, humility and deep self-awareness Being able to release a hurt means that we've reached a level of spiritual maturity where we're able to accept that there's only one thing that we need to know about God: that we're not him (her)! If you can accept that God (however you define God) is in charge, and that you're not, then you've set out on a spiritual journey. No one can manage actually to 'let go and let God' and still think of him- or herself as the manager of the universe. Faith, in my book, is grounded in the acceptance that things are as they are for a reason - whether or not I'm aware of what that reason is.

The humility to accept your rightful place in the universe represents only the first stage of forgiveness. The second stage can appear equally as challenging: to recognize in an open and honest way your true humanity. In practice, this means shedding all semblance of denial, seeing yourself exactly as you are without masks or pretense, recognizing the part that you've played in each 'injustice' that's been 'done to you' and the resentments that you've carried as a result, and then asking for forgiveness of those you've wronged including yourself. This 'housecleaning' is not optional: it's an essential element that needs to include yourself, your God, and at least one other human being. You do not live in isolation, you do not act in isolation, you do no wrong in isolation; therefore you cannot seek forgiveness in isolation.

Amazingly, the capacity to acknowledge your own wrongs and to ask for forgiveness opens the only possible door to happiness for you. Until you experience forgiveness yourself, you can never truly grant it to others. You can say the words, but your heart, trapped in the cords of your own guilt and resentment, will never really be set free. In order to permit others to reestablish trust with you, you've got to experience others' renewing their trust in you. Don't worry about 'forgive and forget' - no one should be expected to 'forget' the past. The gift that forgiveness brings to you is the ability to remember the past, but without any of its bitterness. Forgiveness brings with it the gift of equanimity: calmness of soul.

The final stage of forgiveness comes when we've parted the curtains of guilt and resentment and are finally able to recognize our kinship to every other human being we encounter. Have you ever met someone who, at first sight, appeared very unattractive to you? Perhaps they had some physical blemish or deformity that grabbed your attention. Have you then ever had the experience of getting to know these people more intimately, when slowly their features take on a warm familiarity? Before long, don't those characteristics that first fixated you fade into the background and become, if not invisible, at least unnoticeable? Forgiveness opens us up to an empathy - a kinship - with one another that guilt and resentment can never appreciate. And, if the truth be known, it's in that experience of kinship with one another that we begin to see the true reflection of the face of the God of our understanding.

Where do we find happiness? It's already there, inside. All we have to do is to remove from it the nasty wrappings of our self-importance and its corollaries of guilt and resentment. Those feelings tell us something important about ourselves: that we're carrying around burdens that don't belong to us. Trust God; clean house; reach out to others. In those three phrases you'll find the road to happiness. Or, you can simply say, "I trust God: forgive me, I forgive you" (and mean it).

Self Help For Happiness -- The Negative Bias of the Brain

When we were lowly cavemen we had a certain defense mechanism to help keep us alive. The brains negative bias helped us spot danger while making us remember were danger lurked. Our brains saw and remembered threats, it warned us to keep us safe. We needed this thinking to help keep man alive.

The negative bias of the brain works like this. The brain, Cacioppo demonstrates and reacts more strongly to stimuli it deems negative. There is a greater surge in electrical activity. Thus, our attitudes are more heavily influenced by negative influences.

With all the negativity that has been bred into us it is hard to escape. Almost everything we read or see on television or in the news paper is negative. It is what I like to refer to as "The Negative Circle". A person sits at home watching the news, they wake up the next morning and read the paper and then they go to work and talk about all the negativity they have taken in the last 24 hrs often infecting someone else with their dreaded stories. Negative, negative, negative.

If we are not cavemen anymore why can we not seem to evolve away from this? I can't tell you that the negativity bias is a horrible thing, I can say that is not as needed as it once was. No longer are we people searching through the woods looking for food...we have evolved but our negative thinking hasn't.

I am not saying that everyone who watches the news or reads the paper is negative. Some people can overcome it but on the other hand some people are pronged to become negative themselves from it. Negativity is self defeating, it robs people of their happiness or the ability to be happy. You must beware of the negativity around you. It is as pervasive as the common cold, but far more damaging. It mutilates, cripples, and corrodes the human spirit. Those infected by it are broken men and women aimlessly plodding along. The dark clouds brooding over them obscure their vision and cause them to become confrontational, apathetic, and cynical. So, how do we inoculate ourselves against such a harmful thinking? It was only after learning about the horrible effects of smoking that people began to give it up. It may be wise to do the same here.

How does one avoid all of this negativity thrown on us by the media? How can we possibly get away from it? Here are something's to think about and remember.

Do you really need to read the paper? If you are reading this then you can use the internet. Everyone needs to stay current on events around them, but forget about getting the news from the paper. Nearly all papers are carrying the news online now. Go and check out their web site for the latest breaking news. I personally use Yahoo to stay up to date on current events. I can shuffle through the headlines and read only things that pertain to me. I skip all the stories that I feel could bring negativity into my world and I save a ton of time doing it.

I check my news online and spend about 10 minutes doing it. I know men who read the paper for an hour or more and then when they go home they spend another hour watching the news. They spend at least 2 hours of the day poisoning their brains with useless facts that don't even pertain to them. You can easily figure they are wasting over 700 hours a year on...NOTHING. They could be doing a lot of positive things with an extra 29 days.

Remember, self-improvement is a hands on project. That is to say that without ongoing implementation and attempting of the new ideas we learn, try as we might, we aren't going to miraculously wake up the next day positive from banning the paper and news but in time you will feel the difference. Evolution didn't happen over night, it is a slow process.

The Two-minute Drill: Crisis Resolution

Okay...here's the scene: you are in the middle of a crisis which requires divine intervention to avoid really, really bad consequences. Where do you turn?

A good starting point: take a few deep breaths and imagine yourself physically backing away from the problem. If it is possible in the circumstances you are experiencing, back away. If not, imagine that you are doing so. One way or the other, see the circumstance from a broader perspective.

As calmly as you can, evaluate where you are, where you want to be, and determine if there is a path connecting the "now" to the "desired".

Decision point: if you envision such a path, leap onto that path and hike to its destination at top speed.

If no such path seems apparent, drop back even further. Is this situation one you value enough to pursue? Perhaps you don't even want this job any longer, or this friendship, or this airline reservation, or...well, you get the idea. Regardless of the subject which has brought you to this crisis point, you must now determine if it is worth enduring.

Yes? Then take action. It need not be huge or dramatic, but do something. You must stop being stuck. Once you are moving, the scene immediately changes and you may well find the path to a solution.

No? It is easy now, because once you determine that you don't want to pursue a resolution, there is no crisis, only concluding action. In other words, explain your intent to exit, and then do so.

When you find yourself in need of divine intervention, be the divine. You have it within you to tap the deepest wisdom of the universe. By allowing yourself that option, you literally free yourself from crises both real and imagined. It is so, so simple: everything is, was, and ever will be in divine order. Know this, and you always know the way out of any crisis.

Famous Psychic Readers

Down through the years, there have been many psychics that have gained notoriety. This is a partial list of those psychic readers.

1. John Edward: This American Psychic medium has accumulated quite a following of believers. He is very accurate in his psychic readings with messages from beyond, and detailed descriptions of what he sees.

2. Helen Duncan: Born in Scotland in 1898, this psychic medium would hold séances in the homes of others or spiritual churches and would conjure the physical manifestation of loved ones. On 2 separate occasions she was able to bring the spirit of a man serving in the Royal Navy. Those attending the séance did not know the man had passed on. Hours later the news of the ships sinking would be heard. In 1933 she was accused of faking, she was found guilty of fraud and paid a fine of £10. This did not deter her and she continued to hold séances until 1944 when one of the sessions was raided. A police officer tried to grab the ectoplasm emanating from her body, claiming it was nothing but a sheet.

He found he could not hold onto the substance and even though there was no evidence Helen and three others were charged with conspiracy. She was eventually charged with vagrancy, conspiracy, and the witchcraft act of 1735. Many people took the stand telling of how accurate Helen's gifts were. She was sentenced to 9 months in jail. Helen was taken ill when the police raided her séance in 1956. She never recovered and died 5 weeks later in Scotland with her family.

3. Lucy Hale: This psychic reader lived in Oxfordshire England and attended Spiritual Churches in the area. She worked for over 40 years as a psychic medium, until she was well into her 80's. Lucy carried on some of her church work until she fell ill and passed away after a short stay in the hospital in 1994.

4. Jose' Arigo: This psychic healer was born in Brazil in 1918 and first found he could heal when he was confronted with the immanent death of a relative, he stood nearby as last rites were being read. Working quickly, Jose' took a knife from the kitchen and removed a large tumor from the woman. News of the miracle spread quickly and he soon began seeing and treating many people. He claimed that a German doctor, who had passed over, would take over his body and perform the cures. In 1956 he was arrested for practicing medicine illegally. He is credited with performing surgery using any instrument he had on hand, with great success.

5. Daniel Dunglas Home: This physical medium was born in Edinburgh, Scotland in March of 1833. In 1842 he moved with his family to America, and went to stay with his Aunt after losing his mother in 1850. Strange things began happening after the teenager came to live there. Nonexplicable noises were heard in the house and furniture moved of it's own accord. His aunt enlisted the help of ministers to rid him of this curse, instead they informed him he had been given a gift from God to do his work. He began holding séances in the middle of the day to dissuade skeptics. At these séances, knocking noises were heard, the table would vibrate, rise from the floor, or tilt.

Other unusual phenomena such as levitating furniture and people, musical instruments that materialized and played by themselves, and hands that would appear out of nowhere and begin to write on pieces of paper were evident. Home retired from psychic work in 1873, and died of tuberculosis in 1886.

Psychic power into our sub-conscious mind

The unseen psychic power is obtainable by those who identify and accept that there is a high sphere of wisdom and communication ahead of their individual physical bodies.
The universe holds a great deal of unrestrained energy, which can be spout by anyone who makes an attempt to focus and adjust themselves towards its understated variations. People who are able to recognize these energy signs and focus their concentration on its functioning, can develop the Psychic power in their mind. Psychic power comes from our own sub-conscious mind. It is very much present there, but what we need to do is to make it visible and known to us. Developing psychic power is certainly not easy. It requires a lot of concentration and patience. Here are some important tips that can help you to guide with the insight of psychic power:
" Focus

It is the first and foremost step to start approaching towards the psychic power. You need to learn the right ways to focus. You must focus even on the smallest illustration of psychic occurrence that involves you or the people around you. This will help you to anticipate the connection and combination of the hidden power, which causes the action to happen.
" Everything is connected

One of the most significant things, which you must understand is that every single living being in a conscious state, has a link to everything around in the universe. Whether it is plants, animals or people, all of them are linked to the hidden energy of universe that pervade the whole universe and binds us together.
Considering and accepting this phenomenon is an essential requirement to develop your ability for psychic power.
" Desire and willingness

Desire and willingness is another very important aspect to develop your psychic power. You must have a true desire and willingness to get connected with your subconscious mind. Nothing can make you achieve it unless you have the real desire for it.
" Meditation

Meditation is important as it helps to bring stability to your mind and also improves your concentration power. Though it is not a stiff requirement, but it would make a noticeable difference in your development process.
" Get a reading

In the process of developing your psychic power, it is beneficial to get a reading or counseling from a good reader. It is better to learn from an experienced person rather than referring to magazines or TV on your own.

Remote Viewing Secrets Revealed

It was about 8pm on a cool evening in January. During a class being held at my office, Linda, a student of mine, was continuing a remote viewing exercise describing the living room of her partner. "I see tall windows letting in much light, behind the windows I see a garden filled with flowers and foliage. Your front entrance is probably surrounded by glass because I see a lot of light in your foyer, with a large piece of artwork opposite the entrance door. Back in your living room; your couch appears to be a curving piece of furniture—"

Finally Marissa could not stand it anymore. "Yes, that is the couch in my living room. It does curve. And everything else you saw is almost perfectly correct! How did you do that?"

This is not magic. It is not a mystical gift only given to a few. This is a real skill, which can be developed over time.

Quantum science theorizes how "intuitive knowing" through non-physical channels is possible. The famous physicist, David Bohm, in his textbook, "The Undivided Universe," writes, "Each region of space-time contains information about every other point in space-time." This suggests if you were able to access a specific "region of space-time," you would have omniscient capabilities or be labeled an "intuitive."

If it is possible to "view" something we do not have in front of us, think of the value such "knowing" can have in practical applications in our lives. A corporate executive could use this skill to gain competitive advantage. You could use it to find a valuable family heirloom. Certain law enforcement agencies already use this capability to find lost people or solve crimes. Albert Einstein used it when he had the creative leap to the theory of relativity, which he then spent many years proving mathematically.

This type of power is not limited to just knowing something. The implications are infinite. They include telepathy, clairvoyance, genius insight and mystical experience.

Each individual has within the ability to see and know beyond the five senses. This is an innate, but usually dormant, capability. It takes life style changes as well as expert training to get good at it. Here are a few ideas to begin accessing this power.

1. Get dreamy. It is usually in highly relaxed mind states that we begin to "see" beyond our senses. This is why we may have a dream about a family, friend or a proven event and then learn it was precognitive or telepathic. To do this deliberately, ask yourself to find the answer to a question before you go to bed at night. Keep a book and pen at your bedside to give your subconscious the message you are serious about finding the answer.

2. Relax. Even five minutes of clearing the mind will help slow down your brain waves enough to access this "zone." A good and simple way to do this is to find a set time every day when you will not be disturbed, where you can close your eyes and sit down. Focus your attention on the back of your eyelids, attempting to "look" at them. Each time a thought or idea barges into your mind and carries you away, simply go back to focusing on your eyelids.

3. Exercise. After the relaxation exercise above, hold a picture in your hands face down, without looking at it. Ask yourself to "view" what is on this picture. You will, with practice, get very, very good at this and be amazed with the powerful results.

This is a minute sampling of ways to develop your innate ability to access information beyond direct physical experience. However, more advanced applications of "Intuitive Magic" show us we can begin to access the universe's mind to create a reality of our choice more powerfully than the "holo-deck" on "Star Trek."

Psychic Readings: Success And Failure

The biggest error people make when it comes to psychic readings is the unrealistic idea that those with psychic abilities have a perfect track record when it comes to prediction. After all psychics are people too, made of flesh and bone the same as everyone, and I don't know anyone who is perfect. Why should we expect this of a person who does a reading for us?

Here are a few successes and failures of well known psychics.

- David Icke: A former soccer player from the UK announced in 1991 that he was receiving predictions of events to come from such spirits as Socrates, Jesus Christ, and God himself. He foretold that disruptive vibrations, starting with the Tiananmen Square Massacre and the Sicilian mafia combined events that would first be the cause on Mount Rainier in the US would explode. There was no date given for this event. The complete disappearance of New Zealand, the destruction of the Naples Cathedral, the collapse of the Channel Tunnel, and a failure of the Texas oilfields. In 1991 he told of an earthquake greater than 8.0 would hit Greece, The isle of Arran, Cuba, and the cliffs of Kent and Teeside.

- Jeanne Dixon: In 1956 Jeanne predicted that the 1960 presidency would be won by a democrat who would die in office, but didn't see it happening in his first term. When the 1960 election drew closer, she changed the prediction and foretold that Richard Nixon would be the winner. She predicted germ warfare would break out with China in 1958. In the 1980's she predicted that a huge comet would strike the earth and that a woman president would be elected in the US. Jeanne also predicted the dissolution of the Catholic Church before the year 1990. Jeanne Dixon passed away in the 1990's.

- Edgar Cayce: This psychic and prophet, born in 1877, was known for his comprehensive readings in the early 20th century. In 1934 Cayce predicted that a portion of the lost city of Atlantis, called Poseida would rise from the Atlantic Ocean in 1968 or 1969. He also predicted that the earth will be broken up in the western portion of America. A large portion of japan will go into the sea. The upper portion of Europe will be changed as in the twinkling of an eye.

Land will appear off the east coast of America. There will be upheavals in the Arctic and the Antarctic that will make for the eruption of volcanoes in the Torrid areas, and there will be a shifting of the poles-the poles that are frigid will become tropical and fern and moss will grow this was to happen in 1958 to 1998. Other predictions were about the discovery of a death ray in 1958, China would be mostly Christian by 1968, and the Great Depression would be nearly over by 1933.

There have been plenty of disasters in the world, both natural and man induced, that have not been predicted by anyone.

Transforming Negative Thoughts Into Attraction

If you have learned about the law of attraction or use it before, you will realize how important it is to eliminate negative thoughts. It is because negative thoughts will attract negative results to your life. If you want to be rich but always complain about being poor, you are likely going to be poor.

Suppressing negative thoughts will end up accumulating and finally explode. Disappearing negative thoughts might seem tough to people who never study about it. I'm going to share a simple method here so that you can transform these negative thoughts into attraction to attract what you want.

I'm going to use 'Rich' to demonstrate the methods. Most negative thoughts can be summed up into The Scary "What If..."

Most people have such thoughts like "What if I lost my business?" "What if I did some mistakes and lose my job?" If you have one of those thoughts, you are most likely going to attract those "what if" because you focus your thoughts and emotions on it. The more you dwell into it, the more likely you are going to get it. So, the way to transform these negative thoughts is to ask a better question. For example:

"What I lose my business and all the money I invested?"
Shift To
"What if I my business expand faster than I thought and my money grows till I'm having too much of it."

"What if I lose my job?"
Shift To
"What if I gain huge success and get a promotion I always dream of?"

"What if I lose relationship with him/her?"
Shift To
"What if I have an excellent relationship and he/she thinks I'm the one?"

"What if I will stay this fat forever?"
Shift To
"What if I successfully lose lots of weight and got a hot body that attract lots of woman/man?"

I realized people love to assume the worst case of every action. That keeps us safe which is ok but it stops us from getting what we one. Some of those worst case we assume might really scare us and we don't feel positive or motivated to take action. By having those thoughts, we will attract those we assume in a consistent basis too.

A better question will immediately direct your focus. When you are having some conversation with your conversation, do you realize that your focus will immediately shift once they ask something which is totally out of the topic? That's the key of shifting your focus. Once your focus shifted to things that you really want, you will start imagine in your mind and start getting excited about it. That attract the results you want!

This practice is very powerful and valuable to me. Practice it often and turn it into a habit. When it is already a habit, you will automatically shift your negative thoughts to attraction thoughts without even knowing. Manifesting the goals that you want will be easy and fun.

Law of Attraction

Law of Attraction - The Power to Manifest Faster in 3 Steps

Would you like to learn one of the most effective ingredients to attracting new conditions fast? That one very effective ingredient is the ability to increase mental focus towards your goal and not away from it.

Within a short time you can see amazing results like never before. This powerful step requires a little time to learn and develop. Lack of Mental focus is the one thing which keeps us form realizing our goals. Our present reality is always pulling our awareness from the creation of our inner dream. We remain in the same frustrating situation because we know how to take our energy away from what we want and return it to what we want. Only when we learn to increase and develop focus can we attract the changes that we wish for.

As you can see you have to be willing to learn and know how to gain that most valuable thing called focus. The following step can help you take control of your life.

You can begin to take action with these 3 Steps but stop there the manifesting process has many exciting secrets to increase your attraction.

Escape From Your Everyday Routine wise for you to get a new and refreshed view of your life, this is something you cannot easily do when you are running through your normal routine. You will have time to yourself to invest all your mental energy on feeding your mind new thoughts and new energy.

Breathing Clears the Mind - Free mental clutter allows you to focus on manifesting what you truly want. When your emotions are high and clear you become a greater manifesting magnet. Many ancient techniques are rooted in the science of breathing. You can actually get a natural high from breathing more deeply.

Speak it into Existence There are ancient techniques applied with affirmations that can increase their effect like never before. Looking through some of the old teachings this knowledge was clearly understood as the power behind the ability to manifest. However so many people who know of the law of attraction are unaware of how these teachings which accelerate their manifesting power. TO increase your ability to manifest, find simple practices which take you to the core of what is missing.

· Too many programs insist that you are doing one thing or another wrong. However if you simply follow the true ancient practices you will increase your ability to manifesting faster.

Top Benefits Of Visualization

Creative visualization techniques help intensify clarity and focus to help you bring into your life that which is desirable. This is called deliberate creation.

As one of the most important tenets of the Law of Attraction, positive visualization is simple yet not as easy to implement on a consistent basis.

Some of the benefits of visualization that you will begin to encounter as you make this practice an integral part of your life are:

1. Increased great health

The Law of Mind Action will work in your favor if you fill yourself with images of a happy, healthy self. Surrounding yourself with energetic, vibrant images fills you with that same kind of energy. If you are depressed and unmotivated to exercise, you do not help yourself by filling yourself with gloomy thoughts of how hard it is to exercise. Cut out a picture of a vibrant healthy person that you feel happy to see. Put it where you can see it often throughout the day. Visualize yourself in that manner. Feel it as if already happened. Take one simple action, like going for a walk. Continue to image yourself as that energetic, heathful person. Never relent -- that is the mistake most people make, then say it doesn't work.

2. Money increase

Most people want more money. Whether people want to publicly admit that or not, it seems to be the case anyway, if you are a keen observer of humans. Few people believe they have enough, even though they might pay lip service to that statement. The truth is that your financial abundance is determined your beliefs. There are many people making six figure incomes that are even more broke than those on welfare. Why? Because lack is a state of mind. When you spend more than you have, you are exhibiting a lack mentality. Visualizing yourself financially heatlhy will surprise you how you will start to get incredibly creative to attract more money. Feel the sense of being abundantly blessed.

3. Attract and keep love

One of the greatest benefits of visualization is that you feel a sense of being powerful. You can create what you desire. Many people have wondered if unscrupulous people can use visualization to create evil, for example attract a person that "belongs" to someone else. The fact is, you can. That is, if that other person is not strongly rooted in their relationship. The universe however will give you what your energy level truly matches. There is no fooling around. So if you wanted one thing and got another, examine how you really, truly felt about your desire. Did you have guilt? Worry? Did you secretly dread having that desire come to fruition?

4. Attract your dream man/woman

What does your dream partner look like? It has been said that "we attract who we are". In other words, who we end up with will match our thoughts and our feelings. Sometimes this is tough to swallow, but the same people who complain about it are the same ones who wonder why they are not happy with who they have attracted. Yet the very idea of choosing to remain unconcious does nothing but bring more of the same unwanted results.

Have a clear mental image of your desired partner. Use the different visualization techniques to imprint it in your mind. Always remember, hardly will you attract a partner that does not match up to your vibrational energy of your thoughts and feelings.

5. Get your desired body weight

Writing a movie script of the day you wake up at your desired body weight is a great visualization technique for this one.

6. Attract the right job

Never be stuck doing work that does not inspire you, pay you what you know you are worth, or one that puts unnecessary stress on your body. Remember, stress is a major cause of increased ill health. Therefore, see yourself in your perfect job. There are always people who will enjoy doing what you dislike. So visualize yourself daily in your desired perfect job.

7. Manifest your material desires

For some reason, many people seem ashamed to publicly admit that they desire material stuff. There is nothing wrong with wanting to attract a big beautiful home, if that is what you truly desire. The key thing is to make sure you are free of guilt and judgement. Always remember that material things are a representation of universal abundance. It is up to you to decide when a desired thing does not serve your higher purpose.

8. Behavioral change, such as to stop smoking

You can use a vision board as a visualization tool very effectively to help you stop undesirable behaviour, such as smoking, chewing your nails etc. What seems to work best though is putting up pictures that represent a positive outcome, rather than a "stop doing this" message. For example, a picture of fresh clean environment denoting clean air would be great.

Bottom line, benefits of visualization far outweigh doing nothing. A key thing to remember when visualizing:
Always be aware of how you feel. This is key. It is also the reason many people get frustrated and claim it doesn't work. How you feel will determine your results. If you aren't feeling good (and all the feelings that can be closely associated with good), then find something to visualize that will cause you to feel good.

5 Powerful Creative Visualization Tips For Transforming Your Life

Creative visualization activates the law of attraction. By imagining things or circumstances as you would like them to be, and making them real in your mind, you're actually planting a seed that is sure to sprout.

The recent movie "The Secret" introduced the law of attraction to millions of people all over the world. But the law of attraction and the concept of visualization are nothing new. In fact, this great law has always been available. Early self-help authors exposed visualization as the tool to get the law of attraction working for you. Norman Vincent Peale, for example, called it "Positive Imaging". In fact, that was the title of one of his numerous books.

Visualization is a precious tool. It's something that is available to all at any time, in any location. And it doesn't cost a dime. Perhaps that's why so few value it and use this powerful tool of creation consciously and on a regular basis.

Below are 15 creative visualization tips to help you to recognize and capitalize on your own unlimited powers to create.

1. Choose your goals carefully. Whatever you want can be yours through your thinking, feelings and actions. Decide on something you will commit to having, being or doing in your life. Manifestation doesn't usually happen overnight. It takes persistence. If what you're shooting for doesn't turn you on, chances are you won't stay with it long enough.

2. Create an image of your desire. Stick to a single target and expand, refine and enlarge the mental picture. It's the details that help bring your desire to life.

3. Keep it to yourself. Don't tell anyone else about what you want or how you're going about creating it. Letting it leak out weakens the energy and leaves you open to negative questions and comments. Get what you want first and then you can tell whoever you want about it.

4. Add emotion to your visualization. Make it so real you can taste it. Put yourself in the picture, fully enjoying the rewards you envision. Lock in those positive feelings so you can relive them again and again.

5. Combine creative visualization with positive affirmations. Affirmations help recondition your old way of thinking, freeing yourself from limitations and allowing you to soar like an eagle. When used together, they provide an explosive combination.

These five creative visualization tips will help you make the most of any visualization session. They'll add fuel to the burning desire deep inside you. And they'll help you manifest all you can imagine in life.

The simple process of visualization works. I've seen it firsthand and I live it daily. Use these simple creative visualization tips and they will help you get wherever you want to go that much sooner.

Power Words

Power Words

Affirmation - To assert positively

Positive affirmations have been considered the panacea within the self improvement industry for a long time. Most of the self improvement guru's teach it. However, if affirmations were as effective as they are made out to be, then why are we all not wealthy? Popular? Harmonious? Creative?

Why? Because our conscious mind interacts and interprets information we are receiving, and filters "unrealistic" messages (messages that contradict our more deeply held views) from the subconscious mind. That's its job!

How many of us have repeated over and over again, as we've been taught, sometimes for months and even years on end, the simple sentence, "I am wealthy"? All right, I see a lot of hands. Were you wealthy at the time?

If not, your subconscious mind was filtering that message as a lie. It says, "Yeah right, you don't have two dimes to rub together pal, get a clue." That message, the lie, is the one the subconscious mind accepts as the truth. That message is the reality the subconscious mind works on.

No amount of present tense affirming that "A" is not "A" will ever change "A" to not "A". If you are affirming you're 6' 4" tall when you're 5' 10" tall, this tells your mind that you are crazy, or a liar, or even both! Yes, there is a reason you may have been feeling foolish and futile with your affirmations!

The problem lies in using the words "I am". When you use "I am" and you are not, you are opening up yourself for attack from the subconscious mind.

Let's get rid of the notion of affirmations and replace it with a concept first introduced in 1929 in John MacDonald's book, "The Message of a Master." And that is the concept of:

Power Words

Let's look again at the word wealthy. When using positive affirmations we would say to ourselves, "I am wealthy."

Change the word wealthy into wealth and we now have a Power Word. Now we say to ourselves, "wealth."

In quiet contemplation we think about the concept of wealth and what it means to us. What kind of lifestyle changes would we have if we had wealth. Where would we live, what would we drive, what cause would we donate part of our wealth to.

By just thinking about the concept of wealth you're instructing your conscious mind to tell your subconscious mind to personalize what the word means to you. You create in your subsconscious your reality of the word. You leave no doubt as to what the word encompasses without having to try to fool your subconscious mind into believing you already have it.

I remember when I was first introduced to Power Words. At the time I was running for political office as a Libertarian and a debate against my republican and democrat opponent was on the horizon. For about a week before the event I spent my quiet time just thinking about the Power Word, freedom.

When it came time for the debate I was on fire. Never before had I been able to convey my beliefs, based on freedom, as eloquently and passionately as I did that evening.

As many of you know, I'm also a baseball umpire. After having the success with the Power Word, freedom, I decided to use the Power Word concept in my umpiring. I decided on the word "confidence."

I thought about what it would be like to work a game confidently. I thought about getting into the proper position to make the right call. I thought about knowing all the rule interpretations and what it would be like explaining a rule to a coach. The Power Word concept worked again!

The 2001 baseball season was my best season ever (although there are some people out there who would disagree). As the season progressed I became more confident in my game and I am now considered in the top echelon of umpiring at the youth level.

I experienced these successes not by lying to my conscious mind by telling it something that isn't true, but instead by laying the groundwork in the subconscious through conceptual thinking and creating the atmosphere by which the successes were attainable.

Using affirmations in conjunction with the words, "I am" can be self-sabotaging and lead to frustration, confusion and self-doubt. Unfortunately, this is the concept that many of us have been taught. And even more unfortunately, the use of this concept is what is holding back many of us on our personal development journey, and even leading some into abandoning the journey all together.

Practice the concept of Power Words. Here's what I do. I choose a new Power Wordd each week, and during my quiet time I contemplate what the word means to me. Below is a list of some of the Power Words I consider important to my personal development. You can use the same list or modify it. As long as you get rid of positive affirmations and replace it with POWER WORDS!

How to develop will power

How to develop will power

Since starting this blog I have reread some of my own books on self confidence and personal development, and generally researched and followed up links on the topic. Some I have made reference to, or quoted. I have paid particular attention to any source that has given exercises to build self confidence.

My aim is to build a resource that will be useful, not just interesting or entertaining. Reading books on any aspect of personal development I always feel they have a major drawback - when the reader is presented with an exercise to carry out, its so, so easy to turn over the page (promising ourselves to return to it later!).

Personal development involves change, and you won’t change by just passing by. If you do try to follow some of the exercises you come across another problem - changing habits usually involves effort, some discomfort, and will power. Surprisingly, few books even mention will power, suggesting that just once someone has embarked on a new course of action keeping going is simple.

We all know from our own experiences that this is nonsense. The surge in gym usage in January, followed by a decline the rest of the year, and the growth of life coaching are two examples of how we lack will power.

The only book I have that has a chapter on will power is “A Touch of Greatness”, by Frank Tibolt. I list this book on my about page as one of the most influential personal development books I have read. Rereading this chapter, Tibolt starts off with a great quote by Huxley on the trait of will power and self discipline:-

“The most valuable education is that which trains us to do what should be done, when it should be done, whether we feel like it or not.”

Tiblot makes will power second only to goal setting in importance and says himself:-

“Knowing you can depend on yourself to finish whatever you start builds self confidence faster than any other exercise discovered so far.”

So how do you develop will power? The Tibolt method is to make yourself do something useful everyday for no other reason than you don’t feel like doing it. In other words, get tough with yourself. To make it work best, draw up a list of things that fit with your lifestyle and assign one to each day ahead. You could even select one at random each day, so you avoid making things to easy.

What sort of things are we talking about?

Get up 30 minutes early and have a walk/read a book

Watch no TV at all that day

Buy a newspaper/magazine that is the opposite of your normal reading (and read it!)

If you are going out and would normally drink alcohol - abstain.

Smile and say hello to at least 5 people on your commute to work (unless this may get you arrested for being so abnormal!)

Think of compliments/say thank you for 5 colleagues at work - or friends/family members.

You get the idea? You can also add numerous things under “finish doing….” or “volunteer to…”. There is a movement that encourages “Random Acts of Kindness” - doing things for others out of kindness, without being asked. If you read through some of the things that have been done, you may get some more ideas of what you can try. Give it a go.

HOW TO LOOK CONFIDENT

HOW TO LOOK CONFIDENT

Do you look confident? If I spotted you are a social gathering, what would your body language say - “Go away, I don’t want to be here” or “Come and meet me”? I’ve read different statistics, but its fair to say over 70% of our communication is transmitted by our body language.

So how do you change your outer appearance, even if your self talk is still struggling to get over negative thoughts. Here are a few tips to practice:-

Start off with your feet at least 12 inches apart and have your weight even distributed between both feet. Also have your soles of your feet evenly planted on the ground - think of the ball of your foot, the heel and a point just below the little toe as a tripod, supporting the rest of your body.

Don’t lock your knees!

Be aware of your girdle! The pelvis (or pelvic girdle) connects your hips to your spine. It supports the weight of the body from the spine. It also protects and supports the lower organs, including the urinary bladder, the reproductive organs, and the developing fetus in a pregnant woman. The problem is, supporting all this weight, we can let our body to sink into the pelvis.

Mentally and physically lift you upper body out of your pelvis. This is easier to do than it sounds. Lift yourself vertically, rather than arching your back and leaning backwards. Imagine yourself “lengthening your spine”, rather than letting it crush up as we let it sink into our normal posture.

In the past I have had lessons from an Alexander Technique teacher, and this is worth reading about as they take posture and “use of the body” to a totally different level. One technique I still remind myself to use, both standing and walking, is to think of a piece of string, attached to the top of your head gently pulling upwards.

Lifting your body out of your pelvis, there is a tendency to lift your shoulders high. Let them drop and relax. When I do relaxation sessions, most people identify the shoulders and neck as where they feel/store most tension. Unfortunately the traditional correction to poor posture is “up straight, shoulders back”.

Let your shoulders widen, rather than pull back. Again, don’t try to force a posture but try mentally giving your body directions.

I have touched on breathing before and will return to it again. The final point I want to make in this post is to practice smiling with your eyes. You cannot do this if you are full of dread or anxiety. Bring an inner smile with you, give yourself some positive messages - “relax and smile”, “calm and smile”, “wonderful people make me smile”.

If you are smiling inwardly, you will start smiling with your eyes when you look at people. And looking at people, rather than the floor or your drink, or whatever is in your hands, is part of the process. Mentally think, “there are interesting people here I want to get to know” - focus on others, be interested in them rather than how you are feeling. If you look approachable, who knows…

When you think about the word Surrender, what comes to mind?

If you're like most people, you automatically envision a scenario that entails you giving up something that you hold dear because you are forced to against your will. This obviously has a very negative connotation attached to it. But, what if I were to show you that you can use a form of surrender as a very powerful self liberating tool?

As our understanding of how we process our life experiences has changed we now know that everything that has ever happened to you is still residing in the recess of your conscious or unconscious mind. That means that everything, good or bad, is still in you somewhere and it is affecting the way you think and the way you act. In fact every aspect of your life is being silently affected by all of your life experiences. Now, depending on our life experiences this could be looked at as something beneficial or it could be quite detrimental to how you interact with the world around you.

For example, one morning on your way to work a person cut you off. This caused you to slam on your brakes just as you were about to take a sip of coffee. Your fresh cup of coffee spills into your lap, and not only does it burn you slightly but also stains your brand new pair of pants. What a jerk!

Now this may be somewhat of a simplified example, but I think its one that we all can relate to. How much did this experience bleed into your day? How much did it affect the way you interacted with others at your work place? Do you remember how it turned the whole world against you for that day?

If this one experience of relatively low emotional impact only lasted a couple of minutes and affected your entire day, imagine what a more dramatic experience can do to your entire life.

Surrendering our past experiences can be a painful process and one that we may not want to undergo simply because the thought of bringing forth some of these experiences are too unbearable. But, I assure you that when you do, it will make the world of difference. It is very much the same as going through a detoxification. Initially you are uncomfortable because you are purging toxins from your body and recalibrating your biological equilibrium. Once that equilibrium is regained and the toxins are purged you feel much better, lighter and the body is functioning with greater efficiency.

Now, what I want you to do is feel how your body feels right now. Does it feel tired? Weighed down? Stressed? Tense? Whatever you are feeling I want you to pay attention to it and mark it in your mind to use as a reference point. What are the thoughts that are going through your mind? Take a moment and experience just as you are right now.

Once you have taken a moment to mark your current resting state, I want you to close your eyes and think about the negative experiences you have had in the last day or two. If you can't recall any from the past couple of days then go back until you find one. What you are doing is you are finding the toxins that are poisoning your body, mind and spirit. If you are not aware of them then you can do nothing to help purge them out.

These negativities are weighing on you like sludge, feel yourself in this sludge. Feel the thickness of it, the blackness of it, and the weight of it. It encumbers your movement. The more real you can experience this feeling the better. Make these negativities a physical object or a physical sensation that is like putty. Bring up as much as you can, much like you are digging into the body and pulling it up to the surface. Sit and feel this for a few minutes.

After you have settled and feel the realness of the sludge that you are caked with, take a deep breath and imagine you are outside and it has just started to sprinkle. Here you are covered in sludge and a warm summer rain has just begun. One by one and little by little the rain starts to fall on you. Lift your face to the sky and feel the droplets lightly patting into the sludge on your forehead and your cheekbones.

Over time you feel the sludge start to soften. With each breath a little more softens and eventually it starts to slowly slide away. As it washes away you can feel your movement gradually come back. You start to feel less encumbered. Let it all erode off of you as the rain continues to fall. Feel the warmth of the summer rain embrace you and soothe you. You can even feel it warm your core. Enjoy this warmth.

This exercise should last anywhere between 15-20 minutes. The key to this exercise is making everything as physical as possible. By making everything more physical it helps the brain understand that this is something that you can tangibly get rid of. This in turn creates a longer lasting effect. And, the more that you work with this exercise the better the results will be. So, give it a try and see what happens next!
